Zimmer OHG 460 A/2 High-temperature Optical Diameter Monitor

This is a very interesting optical micrometer with electronic readout. The Zimmer OHG 460 A/2 has a measurement range of 2mm and is intended for monitoring the diameter of fibers in high-temperature settings. The device was tested by connecting the 50-ohm output BNC to a DC-coupled oscilloscope. Introducing an opaque object into the measurement aperture (the forward-facing slot in the center of the last photo) resulting in a rapid deflection of the sweep. There are graduated helipot controls for both DC baseline (null) and for gain. Must use IR as source and detector since no visible light was observed. Module did not seem to be sensitive to ambient light, so the measurement beam is probably chopped. The measuring aperture slot is 16mm wide, 24mm deep, and runs the width of the module (50mm). I am not sure what the temperature range of the module is. It is in very fine condition and appears to work properly but we have no protocol for calibrating the item.
