Product Description
This is a Laser Power Monitor manufactured by Laser Precision Corporation. This particular model is an RT-20C with a digital readout. The serial number of the device is 1459, and it includes the matching serial numbered detector as well as the BNC cable connecting detector to display.
Front panel controls include the red power switch, a ‘set zero’ multi-turn pot for dark current compensation, and a bank of push-buttons marked ‘POWER WATTS’; ‘RESOL. x10’ for lower power lasers; ‘TUNING +/-‘; ‘ENERGY JOULES’; and ‘RESET ENERGY’.
The rear panel has banana plug jacks for recorder output, line input selector switch, input for BNC cable from detector, fuse holder, and line cord.
The detector has a flange-mounted BNC connector (as opposed to the earlier rear-mounted connector, which greatly improves cable dress problems on dense breadboards), and a small trimpot for calibration of the detector.
The system was tested with a 15mW HeNe laser with the 10x resolution push-button engaged. The reading was 13mW and this varied slightly depending on the position of the laser on the detector. Detector area is about 20mm in diameter. I did not adjust the calibration pot.
The meter appears to be functioning properly although it was not tested with a higher power laser. No documentation is supplied. Cosmetic condition is outstanding.
