This item is a CVI Laser Corporation mirror mount for 2 inch optics. It is not a true gimbal mount – the tilting plate is referenced against a large ball bearing in one corner of the mount, and the adjacent corners bear against a pair of micrometer spindles.
These mounts are quite compact – the overall size of the tilting plate is only 4 by 4 inches, with an additional 0.125 inches provided as a reference surface for the optional mounting plate (included with these mounts).
Range of tilting motion in both the azimuth and elevation axes is on the order of plus or minus 2 degrees. The recess for the mirror is 0.465 inches deep and is threaded for the included retaining ring. Mirrors thinner than 0.200 inches will require a shim. Diameter of the recess is 2.005 inches.
The mounts are only about 1.125 inches in thickness, and use special stubby micrometer spindles to minimize the mount footprint. Total thickness of the assembly with the micrometer heads is only about 2.650 inches.
Dimensions of the foot are 4 inches wide by 2.63 inches deep. The foot is configured in a manner that the front does not extend beyond the optic mounting plate.
The mounts are in very good condition. The anodizing on some of them has faded more than on others, but mechanically they are in perfect functional condition.
