Product Description
This is a Brunson precision double-wire target, Type 395-5. The target is new in the storage tin.
It is probably easiest to quote the BrunsonKC website – they give a very cogent description of the target and its attributes:
The 395 see-through target is great for alignment jobs where it is necessary to focus on various collinear targets that are positioned down a single line of sight. Wire targets such as this one prevent any refraction error because glass is not employed to create the target pattern. Instead, pairs of flat stainless steel wires* are fixed in a cross pattern, and mounted in a 2¼" diameter, heat treated steel ring (see table below). This target meets A.I.A. specifications.
The spacing on this particular target is 0.005 inches which makes it most suitable for working distances of approximately 5 feet using the rule-of-thumb ‘spacing = distance in feet’. The target itself is not actually composed of wires, but is etched from a sheet of 0.004 inch thick stainless steel so all the ‘wires’ are perfectly coplanar. This is the narrowest standard spacing provided.
The target centration on the 395-5 is held to within 0.0005 inches, and the steel ring diameter 2.2498" to 2.2493".
