Product Description
This item is a Newport optical breadboard for holographic work. I could not find any literature on the system in any of the catalogs, but all of the components are Newport, and it appears to have been marketed as a composite module. The baseplate is 32 inches wide, 8 inches deep, and 1 inch thick. It is supplied with three 5-inch riser posts for securing to an optical table. On the left end of the apparatus (I am assuming that the scale faces forward) there is a beam-directing mirror. The laser may be introduced into the system either from component level (8.125 inches) or from an aperture beneath the baseplate depending on the orientation of the mirror.
The next component in the system is a variable beam-splitter that appears to have a motorized drive. There is a small phono plug connector in the housing that I am assuming holds the motor. No cable for the motor was supplied. On each of the exit ports for the variable beam-splitter are shutters with cables extending through apertures in the base.
There are several other components in the system, including some special corner reflectors in the adjustable beam-length portion of the system. The corner reflector position is graduated in cm from 0 to 65 (the path is folded, so the graduations are only 5mm apart). There appears to be some sort of photocell just forward of the P-beam beam-splitter.
We did not get any of the drive electronics for the shutters, the motor for the variable beamsplitter, or the readout for the sensor. Nor is a laser included with the system.
All of the components appear to be in perfect condition and the system is exceptionally clean. Along with this system we also received two very large coated mirrors each held by a pair of vibration damped Newport posts. One of the mirrors is 7.5 x 10 inches, the other mirror is 14 x 18 inches. They are listed separately.
