Product Description

This item appears to be an HP 10702A Linear Interferometer in which all the labels have been removed. The optical layout of the interferometer body has been scribed in the side of the case recess where the original label would have been. The interferometer consists of a polarizing beam-splitter with three additional components added. Opposite the entry face is a plane-mirror (HP 10724A), and on opposite sides an HP 10703A retroreflector and an HP 10722A converter window. This is essentially the same interferometer as the normal Linear Interferometer, however the retroreflector has been moved opposite the window so the interferometer acts at right-angles to the laser instead of straight ahead. The angle of the beam-splitter is not critically set within the cube in order to keep component prices reasonable. For precise positioning it is recommended that the beam-splitter is fixtured using a large leveling base (HP 10711A). These mounts allow for corrections in two directions. Pitch may be adjusted through several degrees about the axis of the mirror component by resetting the cradle position in the base, and yaw may be adjusted using the play in the elongated slots for securing the base. The base of the mount has an open aperture so the beam path may be directed through the base of the fixture. Beams should ONLY be deflected at right angles in each laser / detector assembly in order to avoid depolarization of the laser beams. These components have been removed from various fixtures. They have been classified as second quality because of the missing labels as well as the rather crudely scribed schematics. All optical surfaces are free of blemishes and there are no gouges or distortions in any of the parts that would in any way impede accuracy of measurements. Cosmetically these components appear in very fine condition, although not new. Unlike new components, no hardware is included. Location W7-A Photo set 503
