Product Description
This item is an HP 10715A Differential Interferometer, new in the original packing. It is one of the more elaborate interferometers using the 1.5” cube form factor. These components belong to the Hewlett-Packard Laser Interferometer Distance Measurement Apparatus. The interferometer includes a special diagonal beam-splitting window which I have not figured out – it may be some sort of phase shifting plate to turn the plane of polarization. The interferometer includes a special magnetic target disk used in the initial setup of the device. It includes two retroreflector modules and a converter window, but attached to the opposite side from the converter, is another module with a right-angle beam-splitter with two exit ports on each side, marked ‘A’ and ‘B’. There appears to be a quarter-wave plate between the main interferometer body and the second beam splitter. I have no idea how the diagonal mirror is used. . .
Again, this is new in the box. I believe this component would benefit from the use of the large leveling base (HP 10711A). The only mounting faces are the opposite sides of the main interferometer body.
